GOD USES CRACKED POTS

(Pastor Lee Jackson – FFWC)

I)     INTRODUCTION – MATT 21:42 – 44: JESUS QUOTING FROM PSALM 118:22 – 23. JESUS SPEAKS OF HIMSELF AS THE A STONE.  1) FOR ISRAEL…A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, 2) FOR HIS CHURCH…THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE, 3) FOR THE GENTILE WORLD THE STONE CUT OUT OF THE MOUNTAIN THAT WILL DESTROY WORLD GOVERNMENTS (DAN 2:31-45), 4) FOR BELIEVERS…A STONE THAT WE FALL UPON …PRODUCES BROKENNESS IN OUR LIVES, 5) FOR UNBELIEVERS…A STONE THAT WILL FALL UPON THEM…AND DESTROY THEM.  IN VS 43 JESUS WAS SPEAKS OF FRUITFULNESS.  I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE INTRINSIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BROKENNESS AND FRUITFULNESS!

II)    BROKEN …IN SUBMISSION.  JER 18:1 –4

C)   ILLUSTRATION CHRIST IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMENE, FACING THE CROSS, THE ULTIMATE SYMBOL OF BROKENNESS,  PRAYED NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE.

B)   THE MIRACLE OF MULTIPLICATION TOOK PLACE IN THE BRAKING OF THE BREAD.

2)    SPIRITUAL MULTIPLICATION BEGINS WHEN WE ARE BROKEN FOR DIVINE PURPOSE.   PERSONAL ABILITY, HARD WORK, OTHER ADVANTAGES DO NOT MAKE ONE EFFECTIVE (SUFFICIENT) IN THE LORD’S WORK.

3)    PAUL SPEAKS OF THIS IN 2 CORINTHIANS:

A)   “OUR SUFFICIENCY IS OF GOD” (3:5)

E)   THE WEAPONS OF THE 300 REMAINING WERE QUITE UNUSUAL – TRUMPETS, EMPTY PITCHERS, AND LAMPS IN THE PITCHERS. (7:16)

F)   GOD GIVEN STRATEGY FOR BATTLE – BLOW THE TRUMPET, SHOUT “THE SWORD OF THE LORD, AND OF GIDEON:, AND BREAK THE PICTURES. (7:18-20)

2)    THE BROKEN PITCHERS REVEALED THE LIGHT INSIDE.

A)   THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED TO SEE US, IT MUST SEE THE “LIGHT OF THE WORLD” IN US.

B)   JOHN BAPTIST: “HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE.” JN 3:30

3)    WE CAN NEVER REALLY SERVE CHRIST UNTIL WE HAVE BEEN BROKEN AND THE GLORY AND BEAUTY OF HIS CHARACTER IS SEEN IN OUR BROKENNESS.

V)   CONCLUSION –   IN Joh 12:24  JESUS SAID  “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”   IT IS IN BROKENNESS AND DYING OUT TO OUR SELF-LIFE THAT WE BECOME FRUITFUL IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
