God Speak (part 1)

God Speak (Part 1)

(Pastor Lee Jackson – FFWC)

I define God Speak as learning to speak God’s Word over ourselves, over those that we love, over situations that we face and over our hopes that we have for a purposeful & fruitful life. Faith talk is the opposite of fear talk.  So much of what we say, we say out of our fears and insecurity.

It is not faith in ourselves or even faith in faith but faith that comes from the Word of God.  ROM 10:17: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” It is by God’s Word that the World was brought into existence.  Isaiah 55:11 says the words that comes out of God’s mouth will not return void but would accomplish God’s purpose.

This morning I want to lay a foundation to understand the dynamics of how God’s Word is sown and the various soil conditions in which it is sown which reflect the condition of our hearts.  Parable of the Sower: Mark 4:3- 9 (NIV)

We do not have to guess as to the interpretation of this parable told by Jesus as the interpretation was given by Jesus in the same context:  Mark 4:14-20

ü  The some of the seed falls by the “wayside” Vs 15; It is not understood or we are not ready to receive it— the enemy is quick to — steal the Word — because he knows…….that it’s through the Word — we rule—we take dominion over the works of the Devil…More about this later.

ü  Some of the seed falls on stony ground; it is received with gladness but they have no root in themselves.  These believed the Word, accepted the Word rejoicing but when tribulation or persecution arises for the Word’s sake they fall away.

ü  Some of the seed falls among the thorns.  These hear the word but the cares & pleasures of this life and the deceitfulness of riches choke out the Word so that it becomes unfruitful.

ü  Thankfully, other seed falls on good ground (prepared ground), those hear the Word and accept it and bear fruit, 30, 60 & some 100 fold.

ü  What is the difference…it is not the seed.  It is the same seed in all instances.  It is the soil, the condition of the heart that makes the difference.

We understand the sower sows the seed and the seed is the Word, not just a word from just anyone but the Word of God.   (No one sowed the seed like Jesus, because he was the Seed, THE WORD MADE FLESH, It began with Him; it continued with His Disciples, but now you might realize it includes Pastors, Teachers and Evangelists,  Radio & TV Ministries but IT ALSO INCLUDES YOU!

YOU ARE SOWING WORD SEEDS WITH THE WORDS YOU SPEAK, seeds that sprout & take root in you, in your circumstances and the people you love.  WHAT KIND OF SEED ARE YOU SOWING?  ARE YOU SPEAKING GOD’S WORD INTO PEOPLE’S LIVES and CIRCUMSTANCES YOU FACE OR ARE YOU sowing seeds of FEAR, DOUBT, DESPAIR, and HOPELESSNESS.  Gal 6:7 (kjv) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Read Mark 4:24 (NIV) “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you–and even more.”

TWO PRINCIPLES ARE GIVEN HERE IN MARK 4:24:

THE 1st PRINCIPLE IS:Consider carefully what you hear”:  what you hear — is what you will speak.  Here is why we need to be careful — because faith comes by hearing.  The truth of this scripture is — faith comes by hearing…..but you can also have faith in what you hear the enemy is saying.  You can have faith in what you hear your brother or sister say.  You can have faith in wall street analysts or what the NEWs anchor is saying.  Faith comes by hearing — whether it’s the word of God or not…that’s a principle.  Is your faith in the government, in your job, in your bank account or is it in God’s Word and what it says about your situation AND THE CRISIS YOU ARE FACING.

Scripture says, however, — “Faith comes by hearing – and hearing the word of God. (Rom 10:17)  Faith begins where the will of God is sought and  the word of God is understood.  Once I have sought the Lord and understand what the Word says about the situation — it is my responsibility to speak it.

Remember what we read in Matt 13:19: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This not only happens to unbelievers but it happens to all of us!  We must understand the working of God’s Word and faith.

THE 2ND PRINCIPLE IS ILLUSTRATED IN THE 2ND PART OF MARK 4:24: “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you–and even more.”  WHEN IT COMES TO FAITH…YOU USE IT OR LOSE IT!  YOU MUST EXERCISE YOUR FAITH.

THERE’S A 3RD PRINCIPLE: Just because it’s true in the Bible — doesn’t mean it’s true in your heart.  IN THE BOOK OF ACTS THE SONS OF SKIVA WERE REPEAT WHAT THEY HEARD THE APOSTLE PAUL CASTING OUT DEMONS, BUT THE RESULTS WERE NOT THE SAME!  THE DEMONS SAID, JESUS WE KNOW, PAUL WE KNOW, BUT WHO ARE YOU & PROCEEDED TO RIP THE CLOTHES OFF THEM…

Job 22:28a Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee…  You may decree a thing — but you’re not the one making it happen. Understand this — it’s not going to happen just because you say it. Just because it’s true in the Bible — doesn’t mean it’s true in your heart.  How do you make it true in your heart?  BY FAITH IN GOD’S WORD.   WHAT IS THE NATURE OF TRUE FAITH?

Faith is twofold —- the first phase is reading OR HEARING the Word of God until we understand it …until it changes us …until it changes our image …changes the way we see ourselves, our circumstances, the world we live in and  those that are lost.

THE 2ND PHASE IS LIVING AND SPEAKING THE WORD THAT HAS CHANGED US , CHANGED OUR IMAGE, CHANGED THE WAY WE SEE OTHERS…THE TEST OF REAL FAITH IS THAT WE WILL WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD GOD HAS GIVEN US.

God taught Abraham that he had to agree with Him — “calling those things that are not as though they are”.

Your words are powerful saints:

Matt 12:36-37— But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account of in the day of judgment.  37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Proverbs 18:21 SAYS, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue”.  The word translated power here means “custody”.  This scripture is saying that you have in your possession OR CUSTODY the ability to build up or tear down.

MANY OF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOU CHILDREN Act 16:31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will Be saved–you and your HOUSEHOLD.”  READ THAT, REPEAT IT AND PRAY IT OVER YOUR CHILDREN.
