  1. INTRODUCTION WHEN JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD HE BROUGHT THE KINGDOM OF GOD / OR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN WITH HIM.  ALTHOUGH HE WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE KING FOR ONLY A BRIEF MOMENT WHEN HE ENTERED INTO JERUSALEM RIDING ON A DONKEY, HE WAS AND STILL IS THE GREAT KING – THE GREATEST KING THAT EVER WAS OR EVER WILL BE!
  • WHEN HE COMES BACK TO EARTH AGAIN, EVERY KNEE WILL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS THAT HE IS LORD. (ROM 14:11)
  • WHEN JESUS STOOD BEFORE PILATE, PILATE ASKED HIM IF HE WAS A KING.  JESUS RESPONDED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE, BUT ADDED THAT “HIS KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD.”  (JOHN 18:35, MATT 27:11)
  • WHEN JESUS WAS TEMPTED IN THE WILDERNESS:  Mat 4:8-10:  the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9  And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10  Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND HIM ONLY YOU SHALL SERVE.’ ”   JESUS DID NOT DENY THAT SATAN RULED OVER THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD.
  • JESUS TOLD MANY PARABLES RELATING TO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN / KINGDOM OF GOD.  THEY ARE FOUND THROUGH OUT THE GOSPELS.  EACH PARABLE REVEALED ANOTHER TRUTH OR PERSPECTIVE ON THE KINGDOM OF GOD OR KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
  • TEXT MATTHEW 13:44-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46  who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS HIDDEN TO THE CASUAL OBSERVER

  • JESUS LIKENED THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN TO A TREASURE HIDDEN IN A FIELD
  • IT IS FOUND BY ONLY BY THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEARCH FOR IT.  JESUS SAID “IF YOU HUNGER AND THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS YOU WILL BE FILLED.”
  • Pro 25:2  It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
  • Luk 17:20,21  Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21  nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” they failed to recognize their king or receive his kingdom.
  • Mat 13:34  All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, 35  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES; I WILL UTTER THINGS KEPT SECRET FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.” [Ps 78:2-3]
  • JESUS WOULD SEND THE MULTITUDES AWAY AND TAKE HIS DISCIPLES ASIDE TO EXPLAIN TO THEM THE MEANING OF THE PARABLES.
  • Mat 11:25  At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS OF INFINITE WORTH BUT IT WILL COST YOU EVERYTHING

  • IT IS COMPARED HERE TO A TREASURE HIDDEN IN A FIELD & A PEARL OF GREAT PRICE THAT THE MAN SOLD EVERYTHING HE HAD TO OBTAIN.
  • JESUS TOLD THE RICH YOUNG RULER IN Mat 19:21  “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
  • IN Mat 6:31-34 JESUS TAUGHT:  “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
  • Jn 2:15-17  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16  For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
  • THERE IS A VIOLENCE, A FORCEFULNESS, A DETERMINATION THAT RESULTS FROM A DISSATISFACTION WITH THE WAY WE ARE THAT CAUSES US TO PRESS INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD:  Mat 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the KINGDOM of heaven suffers VIOLENCE, and the violent take it by force.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WHERE CHRIST IS KING.  IT IS A SUPERNATURAL KINGDOM THAT WILL NEVER PASS AWAY

  • Isa 9:6-7  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the GOVERNMENT shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
  • Rom 14:17 FOR the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
  • kingdom life is characterized by a lack of worry, striving, competition, but confidence in god and peace: seek ye first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these thing will be added onto you; phil 4:19: my god shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory; 2Pe 1:3  His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
  • it is a life in the spirit, evidenced by the fruit of the spirit, gal 5:22,23:  love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…
  • kingdom life is maintained by prayer and meditating on his word, by worshiping him and having a heart of thanksgiving.

CONCLUSIONTHERE ARE TWO SPIRITUAL KINGDOMS ON THIS EARTH, THAT ARE LOCKED IN ETERNAL CONFLICT OVER THE SOULS OF MEN.  THESE ARE THE KINGDOM OF GOD /THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT AND THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS, RULED BY SATAN.  EVERY LIVING SOUL IS A CITIZEN OF ONE KINGDOM OR THE OTHER.

  • IN EPH 6:12:  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
  • Mat 7:21  “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,‘ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
  • Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the END come.   tHIS IS SPEAKING OF WHEN CHRIST WILL COME TO RULE AND REIGN IN HIS MILLENIAL KINGDOM.  CHRIST WILL BRING JUSTICE & JUDGEMENT TO THE EARTH AND END TO WICKEDNESS.
  • IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED CHRIST, YOU HAVE NOT ENTERED INTO HIS KINGDOM…
